gaaah a rant

indie is not a genre!! even emo music has indie! i'll pull out my eyes if somebody refers to a music type as indie. bleh. (since i'm guilty of comitting the same crime once in a while, don't hold me to that.)

so what can you call that certain sound of music that isn't emo or goth or punk or rock or whatever? dunno. invent one. it's not indie! it's not correct to call it indie! indie means independent. not signed under a major label? i dunno. but it's not a type of music!

gaah.

shoot me if i make the same mistake again.

she feels like the real thing

Her Green plastic watering can
For her fake Chinese rubber plant
In the fake plastic earth.
That she bought from a rubber man
In a town full of rubber plans.
to get rid of itself.
And It Wears Her Out, it wears her out
It wears her out, it wears her out.

She lives with a broken man
A cracked polystyrene man
Who just crumbles and burns.
He used to do surgery
For girls in the eighties
But gravity always wins.
And It Wears Him Out, it wears him out
It wears him out, it wears him out.

She looks like the real thing
She tastes like the real thing
My Fake Plastic Love.
But I can't help the feeling
I could blow through the ceiling
If I just turn and run
And It Wears Me Out, it wears me out
It wears me out, it wears me out.

And if I could BE who you wanted
If I could BE who you wanted,
All the time, all the time, ohhh... ohh...

still RADIOHEAD-ing for this week. brought upon by my current love situation and my exasperation over 2 favorite non-lovers. c'mon get a grip man. you know we love you!

so let's sing with me...

She looks like the real thing
She tastes like the real thing
My Fake Plastic Love.
But I can't help the feeling
I could blow through the ceiling
If I just turn and run
And It Wears Me Out, it wears me out
It wears me out, it wears me out.

you do it to yourself you do... and that's what really hurts

while everybody else is going indie or dancey or whatever, i'd like to pay tribute to one of the most awesome bands in the whole wide universe: RADIOHEAD. i've been listening to Radiohead for as long as i can remember, and up until now i have yet to get what their songs are really all about. Thom Yorke is a fucking genius, despite his weird blog entries and his lack of care for all things grammatically correct and punctuation-related. i think that's what endears me to him the most (or is it him to me? can't really figure out which is which).

Radiohead is perfect for anyday. emo, rainy days like today. angry, life or death deadline days. sunny, sappy and sunshiny days people i'd like to kill have. name it, Radiohead's perfect for it. even when your boyfriend's about to break up with you and you don't know what to do... and it's taking everything you have in you to not slit everybody else's throats, Radiohead's still the one for you.

And because i like to jump in on the bandwagon, let me leave you with a video of my favorite song. it reminds me of days i used to sit on the window sill with 2 of my friends while slacking off instead of working, with cigarettes on each of our hands and boy bawang on the table behind us, and burdens and complaints on our hearts we'd sing to this song until our throats hurt and somebody would knock on our office door telling us to throw off our smokes and get back to work. aaah... good times good times.

and if you don't like Radiohead, you can kiss my ass.

whirlwinds

while reading questionable content(an onlince comic) a few months back, i came across some good recommended bands from jeph jacques, the comic's creator. you can also check out those bands in the RL(recommended listening?) section of his site.

anyway, one of those bands was architecture in helsinki. it's indie, and it they kinda make songs with a happy, dancey feel into it. they're not like ok go or pedicab or franz ferdinand, because i think they're in a league of their own. they're more like cutesy dancey, rather than mosh dancey hehe. or something like that. or maybe it's just because of the extremely high voice of the vocalists.

one of the songs of AIH is in youtube, and to go along with the cutesy dancey(damn i used that adjective a million times in the last 2 paragraphs) song, is an equally cute animation:

enjoy.

Play Radio Play

Play Radio Play

He sounds like every indie band in the world at the moment.. well almost every indie band. But his songs make me all giddy and happy and whatever. Plus points to him he sort of sounds like Ben Gibbard, not that automatically makes his sound similar to Death Cab or Postal Service or All Time Quarterback or whatever...

Just listen to him if you want that pink bubble feeling I'm getting right now. Awesome to listen to after you've had a huge fight with your boyfriend and are just looking to calm down. /not necessarily from personal experience..sort of.

Compliment Each Other's a favorite as of the moment (that's after listening to 2 of his 4 songs ok.. so don't take that as what i think is his "omg best song evarrrrrr!!!1111one!!eleventyone!!111oneoneone!eleven!1111".
