gaaah a rant

indie is not a genre!! even emo music has indie! i'll pull out my eyes if somebody refers to a music type as indie. bleh. (since i'm guilty of comitting the same crime once in a while, don't hold me to that.)

so what can you call that certain sound of music that isn't emo or goth or punk or rock or whatever? dunno. invent one. it's not indie! it's not correct to call it indie! indie means independent. not signed under a major label? i dunno. but it's not a type of music!

gaah.

shoot me if i make the same mistake again.

that's my problem with all these genres and labels and brands.

does it really matter whether we're rock, pop, hiphop, emo, r&b, soul, black, white, brown, yellowish with pinkish-green spots, muslim, jew, christian, bautista, kapuso, kapamilya, atenista, lasalyano, or whatever?

all that we're doing with all this branding is giving each other reasons to hate each other. and if there's one thing i hate, it's hate. well, that and those annoying full-length-song-commercials. and the Black Eyed Peas' Bebot.

besides, wouldn't classifying musical artists so specifically (like media is doing these days) only serve to limit their artistic growth eventually?

another pet peeve.. music snobs! those people who all of a sudden hate it when the artist they like gets popular... gyaah!
